Well, today I think I might've nailed the idea for my final project in TV Production. I think I'm going to shoot a documentary about Student Involvement, or how a college education has turned into the equivalent of a high school diploma.
I don't really know what I expected from college, but I know I'm not getting it here, and I wonder if that's just because I expected too much, or if college culture has just become so much less of a challenge and more of high school + party. I always wanted to challenge society, I really thought that was part of college, thinking outside the box, but I've noticed recently that that's not the case. College students are mundane and lazy. The word apathetic comes to mind.
I think money has neutered college. Colleges were traditionaly breeding grounds for cultural revolution, if not at least national introspection, nowadays, they just feel like over grown and expensive high schools. Maybe the job market's to blame, maybe the baby boomers. That's what I want to examine.
